Chapter 3: Needs Analysis

Chapter three is a good beginning for the curriculum development because this chapter covers the “stakeholders” for our Yugtun program. We have begun the needs analysis already for your Yugtun program. The administrator and a Yugtun teacher have gone to meetings in Bethel to begin this. We, Yup’ik immersion staff members, have already begun brainstorming ideas/ potential future faculty members to fill in ideas for expansion of the Yugtun program here at Kwethluk. We have covered the “stakeholders” positions in this area as a staff and wrote down ideas about who would best fill in possible positions in the extended Yugtun program and which community members would be most beneficial to our Yugtun program.

I like this chapter because it is thorough in curriculum development needs for our current Yugtun program and the plans for the future potential program. We are now in the planning process for “stakeholders” for our program in our community.
It is interesting how things are falling into place here in the school and also right along with the class subjects and the chapters we read. I think I was meant to be in this class this fall. It is so good. Perfect timing!
